HIV and AIDS

HIV and AIDS

Welcome to my set of pages on HIV and AIDS. With these pages I hope to increase awareness about HIV and AIDS, decrease the incidents of infection of the HIV virus, and hopefully convince others to take part in this worthy cause and ward off this very deadly virus.

I don't have HIV, nor has anyone that I know told me they have HIV (although it is quite possible that some people I know do have it). I decided to make these pages after following my husband Tom's example.

Tom is a musician and has played in a few bands since I met him almost 8 years ago. Whenever one of the bands has played a special function - which is quite often - a portion of the proceeds is always donated to the Yukon AIDS Alliance. Most recently, at his first CD release party, the band sold tickets to the people at the party and gave half of the proceeds to the winner of the draw, and the other half to the Yukon AIDS Alliance. Personally, I think the Yukon AIDS Alliance was the real winner. :o)

From the most recent statistics I can find, as of the end of 1998, an estimated 33.4 million people worldwide - 32.2 million adults and 1.2 million children younger than 15 years - were living with HIV/AIDS. As of the end of 1998, HIV/AIDS-associated deaths worldwide numbered approximately 13.9 million - 10.7 million adults and 3.2 million children

Staggering statistics aren't they? =(

Please read on through the following pages, learn it, live it and above all tell others. There is no cure or vaccination for this deadly virus. When everyone bands together to fight this virus, a cure might be found that could save countless lives!
