The number of people infected with HIV is growing, regardless of race, religion and sexual orientation. Statistically, more men are infected with HIV than women. Statistically speaking, 60% of the infected HIV people are men. The HIV virus attacks and destroys the body’s immune system. HIV symptoms in men are not that different from women HIV symptoms, but some early manifestations can occur on different stages.

Acute retroviral syndrome symptoms may include:

- Diarrhea – in 2 months after the HIV infection occurs, the patient can suffer from diarrhea. This may be accompanied or not by other symptoms such as fever and rash.

- HIV symptoms in men include enlargement of glands in the neck, armpits and abdomen. These lymph nodes are part of the immune system, and swell when an infection is present in your body.

- Fever – many men infected with HIV will experience symptoms of mild to moderate fever.

- Headache – this symptom will appear in less than two weeks.

- Muscle and joint pain

- Rash – sometimes, a man infected with HIV will notice the presence of a rash on his body

- Neck pain

- Weight loss – some men will also begin to experience some unexplained weight loss, when they are infected with HIV.

- Fatigue/ lack of energy

- HIV causes loss of appetite, because your body is too sick and trying to fight viral infection.

- Depression, memory loss, and other neurological disorders.

- Dry cough

If left without a treatment to control the virus, the patient can manifest from a simple cold tuberculosis, pneumonia and develop AIDS, culminating with death.

Early symptoms of HIV in men need to signal an alarm for the person that suspects to have contacted the virus. A test can be relevant in six months, and sometimes even sooner.
