HIV RNA Test

HIV RNA Test

Because this test looks for the virus itself it is a lot more accurate than any other HIV technique for identification.

When the body gets infected with this virus, it takes a lot of time for the organism to start producing the antibodies. Because of this fact, the virus would already be installed inside the cells when the test shows a positive result. The suppressive HIV medicine are given this way both to people that show a negative test but know to have contacted the virus, and also to people that only suspect that they have contacted the virus.

The RNA test will identify the HIV virus at a cellular level very early in the infection and can help eliminate the virus completely before it has a chance of installing itself into the host’s cells.

Because this test looks directly for the HIV virus, the search for antibodies is no longer needed. However, due to the complexity of the test, the RNA procedure is more expensive than classic testing or quick testing for HIV virus. Unlike the classic way of testing which takes about 24 hours or fast way of testing that takes about 40 minutes, the RNA test will require a number of days for identification. It is not only about finding the virus’s RNA inside the blood, but also the papers and procedures used that take a lot longer to complete.

It may take longer, and it may require special devices held only by major clinics, but this test is 100% accurate and can detect the presence of the virus even from the first weeks of infection.

Generally, patients that want HIV RNA test to confirm the infection will have to pay a higher amount of money than for classical testing, which can sometimes be free.

HIV RNA Test

To understand what HIV RNA test is one must first understand what RNA is and some characteristics of the human body.

Human bodies have DNA as well as RNA inside their cells. The DNA is contained only by the living creatures with a developed genetic genome. RNA is a characteristic encountered in viruses. The virus will have a “shell” in which the RNA- its genetic information is kept. Destroying the capsule of the virus will alter the RNA, but the multiplication and revival is still possible as long as the genetic information exists.

HIV RNA Test

The HIV virus has a unique way of infecting the host. It is actually capable of subscribing its RNA information inside the DNA genetic code of the host. This way, it practically becomes a part of the host’s cells.

DNA and RNA (deoxynucleic –acid and deoxyribonucleic acid-acid) are both part of the human cell and contain all the genetic information that the body has, including the information for virus and germs protection. When the HIV virus enters the body, it suppresses the ability of the body to protect itself from outside factors. The HIV RNA test identifies not the antibodies produced by the organism to fight the virus, but the RNA of the virus itself.

Translation

The viral RNA leaves the cell.

The viral mRNA leaves the nucleus. The translation of the viral mRNA results in the synthesis of three polyproteins essential in the continue process of viral reproduction.
