Ensuring that people living with HIV

Ensuring that people living with HIV receive antiretroviral treatment (ART) is one of UNAIDS’ priority areas. Treatment has had an extraordinary impact on HIV-related mortality, enabling people to lead relatively normal, healthy lives in high income countries. Currently less than half of the people in need of ART globally have access.

By scaling up and sustaining treatment coverage and bridging the gap between sexual and reproductive health and HIV, integrating nutritional support within treatment programmes and increasing the number of skilled and equipped health workers, we can ensure that people living with HIV receive treatment.
