Condoms and Aids

The use of condoms is as old as history, and condoms used to be made from a selection of materials, which may sound absurd and offensive to us, as even animal intestines were used. The use of condoms lost it popularity after other more effective forms of birth control became available, yet the use of condoms made mostly from latex are highly effective in preventing HIV transmission when used consistently and correctly.

When using condoms please note that they are more likely to break during anal sex than during vaginal intercourse.

Studies conducted on uninfected people, considered to be at very high risk of infection, as they were involved in sexual relationships with HIV-infected people, showed that condoms do offer some protection.

These studies found that even with repeated sexual contact, 98 - 99.9 % of these people who used condoms correctly and consistently did not become infected.

Please be aware that a health risk is always present, and great care must be taken with ALL body fluids that might mix during sexual intercourse.

Lubrication during sex

Do not use a petroleum based lubricant (such as Vaseline) - a water-based lubricant, such as "KY Gel", will reduce chances of the condom breaking.
