Condomss

Condoms

A condom is a simple, low-cost device, but when used consistently and correctly, protects against the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Promotion of condom use is an essential component of HIV prevention program. It is important to ensure that quality condoms are manufactured, purchased, stored, distributed and handled properly, because if condoms leak or break, they can not offer adequate protection.

Condoms can be purchased in large quantities from international organizations including International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), John Snow Inc (JSI), Population Service International (PSI), United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and USAID. UNFPA has been procuring condoms for the developing world and is the largest public sector procurer of condoms. WHO, along with UNFPA, UNAIDS and other organizations, has been working to develop new quality assurance procedures for the production, procurement and distribution of condoms.
