Fill The Syringe With Clean Water
The first step is to flush any remaining blood and drug from the syringe. This will decrease the number of HIV or Hepatitis C viral particles remaining in the syringe. Fill the syringe with the clean water and squirt out, discarding the water afterward. Repeat several times until no visible blood is present.Important Tip
- shake or tap the syringe to dislodge viral particles from the sides of the syringe
- only use clean tap water or bottled water
- do not reuse water and do not share water with anyone else
- when squirting out the syringe, never direct toward another person
