HIV PCR Test
Even so, when their health quality is questioned by this virus, not many care on how much they spend on testing methods.
Some of the HIV tests that involve antibodies specific to the HIV virus to determine the presence of the virus are available at home, and are very cheap. Though not approved by FDA, some of them can give quite accurate results, however only within 3 months after the infection. PCR test can determine the infection weeks before the virus entered the body, but home test results are not available in this case.
Some people can even wait for over 6 months to get a clear result on an HIV testing. It only depends on the immune system. If the infected person has a good immune system, he or she can develop antibodies in far less than 3 months after the infection. It can take a lot more than that, 6 months up to one year, for a weak immune system to develop antibodies, time in which all the HIV tests performed with the antibodies methods will show up to be negative.
The PCR however can give excellent results regardless of the immune system before the infection, due to the fact that this way of testing does not look for specific HIV antibodies, but for the HIV virus genetic information. HIV PCR test is from this point of view faster and provides accurate results every time.
