Supporting Sustainable, Country-Owned Public Health Systems
CDC and the many other PEPFAR partners are making progress in the battle against HIV/AIDS but are also creating a lasting impact on health systems that enable developing countries to become prosperous societies and allow more people to live longer and healthier lives. GAP has contributed to sustainable public health capacity and infrastructure by:
- through technical support for HIV prevention, care and treatment programs; improved laboratory and health management information systems; and training the global health workforce.
- technical support for HIV disease surveillance, monitoring and evaluation, and by conducting research on effective implementation and operation of HIV programs.
- including our relationships with Ministries of Health, international health organizations, and private entities that support public health science.
