Cairns forum to present PNG AIDS research

Cairns forum to present PNG AIDS research

Research into issues affecting Papua New Guinea (PNG) and the Pacific Island Nations will be presented at a forum in Cairns in far north Queensland today.

James Cook University's (JCU) Papua New Guinea and Pacific Research Forum brings together academics and policy makers to discuss the challenges facing Australia's neighbours.

JCU spokesman Dr Allan Hauquitz says he will present his research into HIV-AIDS prevention in PNG.

"HIV is of interest and concern to many people around the world and within our region," he said.

"Papua New Guinea has unfortunately the worst situation when it comes to prevalence of HIV."
