HIV/AIDS program director

HIV/AIDS program director at the Alachua County Health Department, talked about how grim the future of the HIV/AIDS epidemic looked 25 years ago.

He said a lot of progress has been made since then, but he also said a lot of progress still needs to be made.

He said the poor and uninsured are going to suffer the most from the disease in the future, and he said it is going to be cultural and societal changes that are going to have the biggest impact in the fight against the disease in the future.

He said just like the number of people killed by drunk drivers began to decrease when groups like Mothers Against Drunk Drivers formed, the same will happen in the fight against HIV/AIDS when similar groups are formed with the same commitment and dedication to making a difference.
