The usual approach of many educators before is to see the whole taboo situation as just a temporary social mask that envelopes the people. But as they try harder to confront the issues and directly say what needs to be said the more people reacted and resisted the information given to them making the whole exercise futile. Some people tasked to teach AIDS education use even metaphors to make it acceptable for many people but this can also compromise the clarity of the message.
There must be a balance of accurate inputs and giving out complete information as well. Previous approaches are leaning more towards accuracy only to find out that students are actually having a hard time getting the whole grasp of the disease. Aside from these the material used to teach about HIV/AIDS must also be socially acceptable.
This is what TeachAIDS, the new approach ion AIDS education was able to accomplish. It has a very good balance between the three very important elements discussed above. It is in an animated tutorial format that runs for 25 minutes and is getting results from countries that were very hesitant about HIV/AIDS education before.
