Out of them one in five are unaware and are living with infection. Though the total numbers of the people who are infected with the disease are increasing but the annual number of new HIV infected people has remained stable. However, it is estimated that each year 56,000 Americans becoming infected with HIV. More than 18,000 people infected with HIV /AIDS still die each year in U.S. Bisexual, gay and other men who have sex with men are sturdily affected by AIDS. These people represent the majority of people who have died of AIDS. The given facts about HIV would display the data of HIV infection. More than 576,000 people with AIDS in US have died through the year 2007 since the epidemic began.

Bisexual, gay and other men who have sex with men

As per the risk group gay, bisexual, and other MSM of all races has been the most affected due to the HIV infection. There are more than half; fifty three percent of new HIV infections account for MSM, as well as forty eight percent are living with HIV. White MSM is responsible for the largest number of new infections of HIV per year of any group in US. New HIV infections have been increasing because of MSM. MSM is the only risk group accounts for increasing HIV infection since the early 1990s.

Injection drug users account for twelve percent of annual new HIV infections and nineteen percent of those living with HIV.

African Americans

African Americans are most affected from severe burden of HIV and AIDS among ethnic group in the nation. Blacks represents about twelve percent of the U.S. population, however, they are responsible for approximately forty six percent of people who are living with HIV in the country. However, the infections among blacks in general have been almost stable since the early 1990s. The new infection rate of HIV in black men is about six times as high as that of white men. It is nearly three times high than the Hispanic/Latino men and twice that of black women.

Hispanics/Latinos

Hispanics/Latinos are also excessively affected by HIV. It is estimated that the new HIV infection among Hispanic/Latino men is double that of white men. As well as the rate among Hispanic/Latino women is almost four times that of white women.
