Two tests for HIV

Two tests for HIV

Information about two HIV tests is given here. However, you can study the other tests also that are provided. There are some standard blood tests that can be used for detecting the HIV in the blood. They include Enzyme immunoassay that is known as EIA, Western blot test and Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Out of these tests Western blot test is confirmatory test that is used with ELISA and EIA. Some other tests are Oral test, rapid HIV test and viral test along with home test kit that can be used for detecting the HIV infection

.

Two HIV tests along with the other tests are given below :

ELISA test

ELISA test (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) is applied to show a large number blood samples for the existence of HIV antibodies. It can be performed on any of three bodily fluids i.e. salvia or urine, blood. The test is composed of a series of two tests. The second one is carried out for confirming whether a person has got infected or not. If the result is negative it means that a blood sample does not contain HIV. On the contrary if it is positive then a person has got infected with HIV.

The Western Blot Test

The Western Blot Tests is the most usual and confirmatory test exploited for this purpose. Some laboratories confirm ELISA positive results with others tests rather than Western Blot test. The other tests such as IFA (immunofluorescence assay) and RIPA (radio-immunoprecipitative assay) are as accurate as Western Blot test. A positive result of ELISA test that is recognized by Western Blot test and IFA test means the existing blood sample has been infected with HIV.

Enzyme immunoassay (EIA)

EIA test is commonly used for all HIV testing programs. This test is highly accurate but no test is hundred percent accurate. An exactness or accuracy depends on the procedure or the stage of the infection of the disease. That is the main reason for using more than one test for confirming whether a person has got infected or not.

Some other tests that can be used for detecting the HIV are given below
