NSW a leader in HIV prevention: Della Bosca

NSW a leader in HIV prevention: Della Bosca

New South Wales Health Minister John Della Bosca says new data shows the state remains a world leader in HIV prevention.

The research released to coincide with the 20th anniversary of World Aids Day found the majority of young people understand the risks associated with unprotected sex.

Mr Della Bosca says the state's HIV notification rates remain stable.

"New South Wales notifications have been now stable for a decade, with about 400 reported each year," he said.

"This is a testament to the State Government's successful partnership with doctors, nurses, health-workers and carers, as well as non-government organisations."
