A circus acrobat accused of deliberately infecting women with HIV has yet to pay a $5,000 surety and is still in custody.

Zimbabwe-born Godfrey Zaburoni, 32, was yesterday granted conditional bail by a Supreme Court Judge in Brisbane.

He is accused of four charges, including committing acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

They relate to two complainants with whom Zaburoni allegedly had unprotected sex between February 2007 and September 2008.

Zaburoni has been in custody since his extradition from Sydney to the Gold Coast last month.

The court yesterday heard 37 women have so far contacted authorities investigating Zaburoni.

In granting conditional bail, Justice Roslyn Atkinson ordered Zaburoni not to have unprotected sex, to surrender his passport, report regularly to police and to stay away from licensed venues between midnight and dawn.
